Eugene John Albert. Son and successor of John Albert. Emigrated to the USA with his family in 1855. Took over his father's business in 1887 and managed it until his death. A business continued under the E. J. Albert name into the 1930s, run by J. J. Albert. His activity as a maker virtually ceased after 1900 as he became increasingly occupied as a dealer in old instruments. Stradivari model with shaded red varnish. First prize at New Orleans and Chicago 1885. Branded internally: `John Albert American Concert Violin'. Bows imported from Europe and branded: E. J. ALBERT. Printed label: The John Albert American Concert Violin manufactured by E. J. Albert Philadelphia. Penna.
