Eugen Gärtner established his own workshop in Stuttgart in 1891 after studying under Sprenger in Stuttgart and Simoutre in Paris. He was appointed as the maker and repairer for the King of Württemberg. He was credited with over 500 violins, violas, and cellos and received various Exhibition medals.
