Ernst Kessler

Ernst Kessler was a violin and bow maker. He was a pupil of August Voigt and Ludwig Otto. He worked for August Riechers in Berlin before establishing himself independently in Charlottenburg from 1882. He succeeded Riechers as the principal repairer to the Hochschule. His instruments were based on the Stradivari model and were finely crafted with quality materials. He received several awards for his workmanship. Instruments were sometimes branded with `E. K' or 'Joachim Stipendium'.
