Carl A. Paulsen
(b. 1879)
Carl A. Paulsen was the son and pupil of P. C. Paulsen in Chicago. He was subsequently employed by Lyon & Healy and by Gustave Ferron from 1904 to 1915. He established himself independently in Detroit, later collaborating with his father in Manistee in 1919. In 1923, he returned to Detroit to work for A. Irving Talks at the Capitol Violin Shop. His instruments featured a Stradivari model with shaded red varnish and were produced in small quantities, showcasing fine workmanship.
