Carlo's eldest son (1904-1979), Natale trained as a cellist at the Bologna Conservatory before economic necessity sent him, at eleven, to work for Mozzani. Unlike his father's individualistic modelling, Natale worked to Stradivari and later Guarnerian patterns, with distinctive smooth, rounded, deeply-carved scrolls (his viola/cello scrolls often carry a unique triangular feature at the lower rear) and a soft, craquelured oil varnish ranging red to golden-yellow.
