George A. Ostertag
Violin maker
(c. 1890 – 1930)
George A. Ostertag apprenticed to Franz Kerschensteiner. He worked in England, Scotland, and Hamburg before relocating to the USA in 1898. He was employed by the Pepin Perfect Tone Violin Co. in Chicago. Later, he established himself independently on Van Buren Street from 1915 to 1922. He returned to Germany around 1923 and was chiefly occupied with repairs, with no new work recorded.
