William Frederick Oskay studied under Harry Stoutenburgh from 1957 to 1959. He established himself in Kingston, New York, in 1959 and moved to Port Ewen in 1961. He was professionally engaged in repair work and completed eight violins, two violas, and two cellos, all made using Stradivari and Guarneri models. He utilized commercial varnish and local materials.
