Walter Opel apprenticed to Max Heischkel in Erlbach. He worked for Lüdemann in Cologne and for Storck in Strasburg. In 1925, he settled in Szczecin (Stettin), Poland, taking over the business of Adolf Pfretzschner. He later established himself in Weimar. His instruments featured a Stradivari model with fine golden-yellow varnish. Geigenbauer Walter Opel operated in Stettin in 19..
