Orfeo Carletti was a violinist and maker, the son and pupil of Carlo Carletti and the younger brother of Natale. He established a workshop in Bologna at Via de Pepoli in 1928/9, where he crafted well-made instruments that were strongly influenced by Pollastri and bore similarities to those of Natale. His fine work featured oil varnish that ranged from golden-yellow to deep red-brown. The manuscript label on his instruments read: Carletti Orfeo di Carlo /fece in Pieve di Cento / Bologna, while the printed label stated: Carletti Orfeo /fece in Pieve di Cento / (Bologna) Anno 19...
