Charles Georges Brugère apprenticed to Etienne Drouin at Mirecourt from 1878 to 1882. He worked for Paul Blanchard in Lyons and Gand, as well as Bernardel in Paris from 1885 to 1892. Brugère served as workshop manager for Eugène Henry between 1892 and 1895. He made approximately 250 copies of Stradivari and Amati of fine craftsmanship, along with four double basses featuring lion heads. He used excellent materials and applied good quality oil varnish in orange-red to golden-brown hues. A silver medal was awarded for a double quintet exhibited in Lyons in 1894, with other awards including one from Paris in 1900. His instruments were numbered and branded internally. Read Less
