Carlton F. Stanley
Violin maker
–
Carlton F. Stanley was a pupil and assistant of his uncle Freelan Oscar from 1924. He had previously worked in Estes Park and Denver, Colorado. His work included Stradivari, Guarneri, and some Guadagnini models. He was credited with over 600 violins, violas, and cellos, most of which were sold through Wurlitzer's. His professional work featured commercial oil varnishes. It is said that some instruments were supplied unvarnished to Wurlitzer, where they were finished by Roy Morgan in Cincinnati using formulas from Louis Condax.
