Carlo Vettori


Violin maker
(1940 – 2025)

Carlo Vettori was born in 1940 in Firenzuola, a mountain town between Florence and
Bologna. The son of master violin maker Dario I Vettori, he began his training at a young age in the family workshop and later refined his skills with master luthier Giuseppe Ornati.

In 1956, at just 16 years old, he won a gold medal with one of his violins at the National
Competition of Pegli. In ...Read More 1959 he settled in Florence, where he worked with his brother Paolo
and established himself as one of the city’s leading violin makers. Over the course of his career, he crafted more than 300 instruments and received numerous awards, including the prestigious “Violino d’Oro” in Bagnacavallo in 1982.

Author of important publications and founder of the magazine Arte Liutaria, he taught courses
and organized international exhibitions, making a significant contribution to the promotion of
