Guillaume Maline
Bow maker
(1792 – 1859)
Guillaume Maline headed one of Mirecourt's most extensive bow-making dynasties. Of his sons, Jean Joseph Maline trained under his father and continued working for him, then — after their father's death — for his own elder brother, Nicolas Maline I; Nicolas Maline I himself became one of the great French bow makers of his generation, also trained by Guillaume; two more sons, Charles Théodore and Étienne Charles, and a further son, Victor, likewise all worked in the family trade. Guillaume's daughter, Catherine Maline, married into the Morizot family, making him the grandfather of Louis Morizot père through that line — a family connection that helped carry Mirecourt bow-making traditions into yet another prominent workshop.
