Jean-Baptiste Chipot-Vuillaume
Violin maker
(1847 – 1892)
Jean-Baptiste Chipot-Vuillaume was a pupil of Derazey and later worked in the Colin-Mezin shop, where he was recognized for his fine workmanship. In 1870, he married Stella Vuillaume, the daughter of a shoemaker, who was not related to the dealer J.B. Vuillaume, despite the later exploitation of the Vuillaume name. After making instruments for Collin-Mezin, he established his own shop, employing several workmen to create instruments in both the white and varnished in 'antique' style. His workshop continued under Charles Drouin.
