Georges Deroux
Violin maker

Georges Deroux was a pupil of Honore Derazey and was known as 'Deroux père. ' In 1846, he established his own business in Mirecourt, which became a training ground for many luthiers, including the Hill family members who later founded the leading European firm of expertise and restoration in London in 1882. He left Mirecourt in 1880 to work with Mennesson in Rheims. His fine work was generally based on a Stradivarian model and was usually branded and signed on the interior: 'Fait par Deroux Luthier a Mirecourt 1855. '.
