François Xavier Bazin
Bow maker
(1824 – 1865)
François Xavier Bazin (1824–1865) was the father of Charles Nicolas Bazin, who continued and expanded the Bazin bow-making dynasty. On the basis of birth dates alone, Pierre Cuniot is estimated to have apprenticed under François Xavier around 1850–55, and Louis Joseph Thomassin is likewise thought, on somewhat firmer grounds, to have trained with him rather than with Charles Nicolas as older literature (Grillet) mistakenly claimed.
