Nicolas Bourbon
Violin maker
–
Nicolas Bourbon was the godfather of Nicolas Vuillaume. His work was considered better than that of François Bourbon; it featured a decent flat-arched model with red- or golden-brown varnish. The instruments were labelled and branded. Henley expressed disapproval of his wood treatments, referring to them as 'chemical-charlatan. ' The name was later used for student violins that were commercially made in Mirecourt with shaded varnish.
