Alessandro Zanti
Violin maker
(1771 – 1819)
Alessandro Zanti was possibly a descendant of Antonio Zanotti. Born in Reggio and later moving to Mantua with his family, he was a professional and well-known violinist who made instruments as an amateur, of which very few survive. Records indicate that Zanti had connections with both Tommaso Balestrieri and Giuseppe Dall'Aglio, and it seems likely that he learned violin making with Balestrieri.
