Nicolas Duclos
Violin maker
(c. 1720 – c. 1780)
Nicolas Duclos claimed to be a pupil of Stradivari on his label, as did many others without justification. He was of French origin and was known for generally well-made instruments, featuring carved heads of angels and animals in place of the scroll, with a vaguely Stradivarian form. He was also recognized for guitars and mandolins. He made one instrument in the Real Ciutadel de Barcellona in the year 1763, and another in Madrid in 1744, stating "Disciplus Destradivarius" on the latter.
