Whether Giovanni Battista Genova trained with the Guadagnini family or under the Guidantus workshop is really just speculation drawn from stylistic resemblance — neither the Turin nor the Genoa archives have turned up anything to confirm a direct link, or indeed much else about him at all. What's known for certain is narrow: a working span of roughly 1760 to 1771, and a body of surviving work rare enough that he's seldom encountered today.
