Jean Adam I
Bow maker

Jean Adam I (1767–1849) worked in Mirecourt and was, together with Dominique Peccatte and Pierre Simon, one of the bowmakers who established independent careers out of the town's collective workshop tradition. He trained his own son, Jean Dominique Adam, probably from around 1807–1810, and the two are thought to have gone on collaborating on bows even after the son had struck out on his own. A comparison of surviving bows also raises the possibility of some working connection between Jean Adam and Charles Tourte ("Tourte T."), though the exact nature of any such relationship is undocumented.
