Pierre Mansuy
Violin maker
(d. 1786)
Pierre Mansuy established himself in Mirecourt, though he sometimes gave Paris as his place of work. He produced superior Stradivari copies in the Mirecourt style, featuring the characteristic dull yellow varnish typical of that region, but occasionally utilized an improved orange or red-brown recipe. After 1900, the name continued to be employed by commercial manufacturers in Mirecourt. His branding included `Mansuy a Paris' and `Mansuy. Mirecourt'.
