Michel Genin
(1807 – 1879)
Michel Genin apprenticed as a bow maker in Mirecourt, possibly under a member of the Adam family. He was the brother-in-law of P. Simon. He established himself briefly at 2 rue Beauregard, Paris from 1827 to 1828, where he may have been influenced by F. Tourte, but he returned to Mirecourt. He ceased bow making in 1855. His early work reflected the style of Adam, later adopted Tourte's style, and finally that of Pajeot. He branded lightly in cursive type: GÉNIN or TOURTE.
