Michel Genin apprenticed as a bow maker in Mirecourt, possibly under a member of the Adam family. He was the brother-in-law of P. Simon. He established himself briefly at 2 rue Beauregard, Paris from 1827 to 1828, where he may have been influenced by F. Tourte, but he returned to Mirecourt. He ceased bow making in 1855.
