Charles Henry
(1803 – 1859)
Charles Henry was the son, pupil, and successor of Jean Baptiste Henry. He was a prolific maker of violins, violas, and cellos in various patterns. His instruments were very well-finished and consistently of fine quality, featuring red varnish on a yellow ground. In 1847, he devised an octave-violin known as the 'Baryton. ' He received medals in Paris in 1849 and 1855. Sometimes, he signed his work internally.
