Carl H. George
Violin maker
(1882 – 1950)
Carl H. George migrated to Toronto, Canada in 1886 with his family and moved to Chicago, USA in 1896. He apprenticed under Gustave Ferron. Later, he established a partnership with Franz Wagner, creating Wagner & George from 1899 to 1945. The business was subsequently taken over by Hermann Bischofsberger. He was credited with 400 violins and 30 cellos, typically based on a personal model derived from classical outlines. Bows were branded as WAGNER & GEORGE.
