Albert Caressa

Albert Caressa apprenticed at Gand and Bernardel until 1901, when he established his own business at 12, rue de Madrid, Paris, alongside Henri Français. He was decorated as Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur in 1910 and became an Officer of the Academy in 1922. His violins were modeled after the Lupot style, with many featuring the label of Gustave Bernardel. Caressa & Français produced all classes of stringed instruments in the finest French tradition, earning awards at St. Louis and Liege in 1905. They served as jurors at the Milan Exhibition in 1906, London in 1908, Brussels in 1910, and Turin in 1911. They were also experts at the Civil Tribunal of the Seine. Bows were branded: 'CARESSA'.
