Violin maker
(1861 – 1943)

Henri Français apprenticed to Darte in Mirecourt and worked for Lullier in Boulogne before joining Gand and Bernardel in Paris in 1880. In 1901, he formed a partnership with Albert Caressa, continuing the firm until his retirement in 1920. The workshop produced many fine instruments and bows, but most effort was devoted to the restoration and expertise of old instruments
