Carlo Colombo Bruno
Violin maker
(1872 – 1964)
Carlo Colombo Bruno was active in Turin from 1890 at 21 Via Roma, from 1897 at 3 via Accademia Albertina / 23 Principe Amedeo, and at 10, Piazza Carlo Felice. He received medals at the Paris, Turin, and Marseilles Exhibitions. His work included good imitations of Stradivari and Amati, utilizing quality materials and dark red oil varnish. He was also known for well-regarded cellos and plucked instruments. However, it has been suggested that some of his instruments were imported from Mirecourt and were signed and labeled in his shop. Instruments were branded on the lower rib: 'Carolvs Brvno Tavrini'. Some pieces were inscribed: Si prega di non muovere questa etichetta.
