François Breton was a luthier to the Duchesse d'Angourême. He was a very prolific and much-imitated maker. His style was quite refined, generally slightly oversized, featuring a flat arch and clear yellow varnish, although there was some lack of attention to details, and the quality of materials varied significantly.
