Christoph Friedrich Hunger was the son of Samuel Hunger and a pupil of A. B. Jauch in Dresden. He was employed by J. C. Hoffmann in Leipzig, later succeeding to his business and establishing himself independently there. He was an early German copyist of Stradivarius, while still retaining many Germanic characteristics.
