Johann Reiter was a violin and bow maker, the son, pupil, and successor of Johann Baptist Reiter. He established his workshop in Oberer Markt, Mittenwald. His fine work was in a style similar to that of his father and J. Vauchel. He created violins, violas, and cellos based on several models. Additionally, he made plucked instruments and viols, all distinguished in quality. He received medals at the Nuremberg Exhibition in 1905. His brand was 'J. Reiter. '.
