László Benedek
Violin maker
(1902 – 1983)
László Benedek studied with K. Lengyel and L. Baloghy. He was employed by R. Laumann from 1922 to 1924, then worked with J. Spiegel. He briefly managed the shops of O. K. Zimmer and G. Mogyorossy. In 1933, he established a business in Budapest at 62 Andrassy Street. This business moved to 58 Kiraly Street in 1944 and finally to 11-13 Vizvaros Fout in 1946. He created classical models with a low full arch, featuring very precise workmanship and a lightly shaded orange-brown varnish.
