Jacob Diehl I

Violin maker
(1789 – 1867)

Jacob Diehl was the youngest son of Martin Diehl. He produced very good work on a distinctive personal model featuring long corners, a flat arch, and widely-set soundholes. The linings were characteristically morticed into the blocks with long tapered joints. He created double basses in viol form. The manuscript label read: Jacob Diehl / Geigenmacher / in Mainz 1843.
