Matthias M. Dahl

Matthias M. Dahl was a pupil of H. P. Blakkestead in Minneapolis and succeeded to the business in 1920. He later associated with Olaf Urdahl. In 1958, he won the first prize at the Minnesota Competition. His instruments were based on the Stradivari model and featured very fine workmanship with deep red varnish. He completed 395 violins, 15 violas, and seven cellos.
