Jacopo Filippo Cordano
Violin maker
(c. 1770 – 1779)
The work was quite rugged in the typical Genoese style, featuring a good Amatisé outline. It had both flat and rounded archings, with broadly spaced soundholes and a head that was awkwardly proportioned. A large volute topped a very slender necked pegbox. The materials were meagre, and the backs were generally plain. The varnish was good, sometimes exhibiting a pinkish tone and occasionally a deep orange-brown. The cellos were usefully sized. fecit Genuae. Anno fa1. 17..
