Frank Cannon Ball

Frank Cannon Ball was a pupil of J. Bradford in Granby, Quebec. He moved to Boston, where he worked for Walter Goss starting in 1907 and later for O. H. Bryant. He established himself in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1925. His early work focused on Guarneri and Amati models, and he adopted a Stradivari pattern around 1955. His varnish was an 'amber-spirif' that shaded from red to orange brown. Over 120 instruments were made, generally exhibiting fine workmanship.
