Lodewich Willem Joannes Roumen was active in Gröningen around 1802, in Kampen around 1804, and in Utrecht in 1810. He established himself in Amsterdam in 1825 at 159 Kalverstraat and retired to Kampen in 1843, leaving the business to his son Joannes. His varied production likely involved several different hands, with some pieces resembling those from Mirecourt and others reflecting the style of Cuypers. They often featured whalebone purfling and had a thin yellow varnish
