Associated with B. S. Fendt with whom he worked for Thomas Dodd 1798-1834. Subsequently established his own business in King Street, Seven Dials 1835. In 1851 he was living at 24 St Anne's Court, Soho. Especially well-known for his double basses. Regarded as one of the finest English makers of the instrument.
