Charles Eugène Gand
Violin maker
(1825 – 1892)
Son and pupil of Charles François and brother of Charles Adolphe. He became renowned as a violin expert and restorer; instruments bearing his own label are rare. Author of the 1870 'Catalogue descriptif des instruments de Stradivarius et J. Guarnerius'.
Partnered with Charles Adolphe in the firm Gand Frères 1855-1866. After Charles Adolphe's death, he went into partnership with the Bernardel firm, creating Gand et Bernardel Frères in 1866.
