George Cousineau
Violin maker
(1733 – 1800)
George Cousineau shared the workshop of J. Ouvrard around 1735. He was apprenticed to F. Lejeune circa 1748. He subsequently established himself at rue Bourg de Brie. In 1769, he became a Master of the Corporation of Makers of Musical Instruments in Paris. He was appointed luthier to Queen Marie Antoinette. Primarily a harp-maker, he listed various types of stringed instruments, including viols, violins, and cellos, on his labels and trade cards.
