Mario Antonio Frosali

Mario Antonio Frosali trained as a violinist at the Florence Conservatoire. He was active as a violin maker there starting in 1932, before emigrating to the USA. He worked for Herrmann in New York alongside Simone Sacconi and moved to Wurlitzer in Los Angeles in 1939. Later, he became the manager of the Brown Violin shop. He established his own business in 1954. He won second prize at the New York competition in 1941 and received a Diploma of Honour from The Hague in 1949. He was well regarded for his classical models, which were finely wrought with orange-red oil varnish. He also made bows. His violin and bow were illustrated in the Sacconi Loan Exhibition catalogue in New York in 1966.
