Marco Antonio Cerin
Violin maker
(1774 – 1810)
Marco Antonio Cerin was a pupil of Anselmo Bellosio from around 1785 and attained guild membership in 1799, opening his shop beneath the Torre dei Mori (Torre dell'Orologio) in Piazza San Marco. His early works exhibit the influence of Bellosio, characterized by graceful designs, rich red-brown varnish, high arches, and elongated corners. In contrast, his later work displayed a stronger influence from Gofriller, featuring stiff unfluted Stradivarian 'f's and thinner varnish.
