(1894 – 1984)
Emile Marcel Français was a violin and bow maker, the son and pupil of Henri Français. He worked for Fenzel in Markneukirchen and for Lyon & Healy in Chicago from 1912 to 1914. In 1938, he established himself in Paris at the address previously owned by Lupot and was appointed as a repairer to the Paris Conservatoire. He was celebrated for his reproductions of classical instruments and was credited with producing up to 300 violins, 36 violas, and 24 cellos. His highly regarded bows were branded: EMILE FRANÇAIS A PARIS, with printed labels indicating his association with the Conservatoire National de Musique.
