Télesphore Amable Barbé apprenticed to Derazey. He was the son of Francois Jacques Barbé and was employed by Jacquot in Nancy, Miremont, Gand, and Bernardel in Paris, ultimately working for J. B. Vuillaume. Although he never established his own workshop, he contributed significantly to Vuillaume's output. He was a skilled and prolific maker. Instruments with his own label were typically copies of the Stradivari `Messie' violin, featuring fine red varnish.
