Valentino De Zorzi
Violin maker
(1837 – 1916)
Valentino De Zorzi opened a shop in Pistoia in 1880, having previously fought with Garibaldi's forces before working as a blacksmith and armourer in Bologna. He was commissioned by Count Vieri Ganucci Cancellieri in Pistoia to build his first violin. In 1885, he moved to Florence, where he worked in via del Corso in collaboration with Silvio Paoletti, who later took over the business. He created violins based on his own model, as well as those of Stradivari and Stainer. Additionally, he produced many other types of plucked instruments.
