Bernard Johan Wutzelhoffer was the son and pupil of Sebastian Wutzelhoffer (II). He worked as a journeyman for I. A. Wild before taking over the family business in Mecove ulici, Brno in 1807. He became a citizen of Brno in 1809. From 1832 to 1835, he received assistance from A. Arlow.
