Vincenzo Annarumma
Violin maker
(1892 – 1976)
Vincenzo Annarumma, a pupil of Postiglione in Naples, worked briefly in Rome after initially returning to Salerno. He was influenced by the Gaglianos and modeled his instruments in their style, using a clear spirit varnish that varied from yellow to dark red. His designs featured a less regulated outline with wide-set T holes and flat edges, along with a slender large scroll that had a small chamfer. Annarumma's instruments were branded internally as `Annaruma Salerno`, and a printed label indicated: Vincenzo Annarumma / fece in Salerno / Salerno il 18-3 1937 / No. He won medals for his work during the 1920s and 30s. His son Mariano, born in 1934, succeeded him and later passed the Salerno workshop to his pupil C. Caliendo.
