Joseph René Lafleur
Bow maker
(1812 – 1874)
Joseph René Lafleur was the son and successor of Jacques Lafleur. He became an active bowmaker around 1830 and was employed by Lupot from approximately 1833, working in his master's style with low plain frogs. He established his own business at 9 rue de Petit Carreau and, from 1849, at 2 Boulevard Bonne Nouvelle. He may have briefly employed F. Peccatte. He apparently retired around 1865. He produced some eccentric and innovative work with laminated and reinforced sticks, along with many conventional and beautiful bows made from excellent wood that had fine playing qualities. His brand was LAFLEUR.
