Theophil Wilhelm Schwartz was the younger son, pupil, and successor of Bernhard Schwartz, and he worked alongside his brother Georg Frédéric Schwartz, contributing to the instrument production labeled as "Fréres Schwartz." Throughout his career, Theophil primarily produced violins, violas, and cellos, characterized by a very clean style in the French manner, based on the Stradivari model. His instruments featured full low arching and a golden red-brown varnish. The numbering system on the labels indicated a production of approximately 80 violins and 30 cellos.
