Hermann Dölling II
Violin maker
(1862 – 1923)
Hermann Dölling was the son and pupil of Hermann Moritz Dölling. He worked for Ludwig Glasel, followed by Ernst Liebich in Breslau, and finally August Riechers in Berlin before returning to the family business in Markneukirchen, which became the 'Vogtländische Musikinstrumenten-Fabrik' in 1886. He received medals at Zwickau in 1906 and Berlin in 1907. His early work, characterized by a high level of workmanship, was generally imitative of various Italian masters. Later instruments were produced by several employees in his shop.
